Arena Health Solutions offer a range of allied health services to NDIS participants that support people to live, work and play. It gives us great joy to see people with disability shine and reach their goals, which is why we love working with NDIS participants.
We currently support teenagers over the age of 16 years and adults with mild to moderate disabilities. Arena encourage any person with a disability to contact us to find out more about our services. You are always welcome to arrange an appointment to come for a visit to our office in Chermside, have a cuppa and see how we work. our office is accessible for people with disability. Alternatively, we can arrange a telehealth appointment for an initial chat. Either way, you will be able to work out if we might be a good fit and make an informed choice about what is best for you.
We take great pride in our professional standards, customer service and quality of health services we provide. We genuinely care about our customers and love to support people to achieve positive outcomes. Arena Health Solutions can be found on the NDIS Work Screening Database and our practitioners are registered with their professional body, so you can rest assured that we are a safe organisation.
A short note: while the services we offer to NDIS participants are on the Allied Health page, we know how difficult it is to navigate the NDIS space, so we have created this page specifically for NDIS participants where the information is tailored to the language used by the NDIS. Enjoy the read and remember to contact us for more information.

Therapy Supports - Psychology
Support Category: Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living
This item can be used for psychological assessments, recommendation, therapy and training. We will explain our two key services provided in this item: therapy and assessment.
What is Psychological Therapy?
At Arena, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional quality psychological therapy to improve your quality of life. Psychological therapy involves working with a qualified and registered psychologist who can support you and those you love to better understand your thinking and behaviour in order for you to find a way forward that aligns to your goals, values and needs.
There are several different types of evidence-based therapies, the most common known being cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). At Arena we focus on your needs and tailor our approach to best suit you.
How does Psychological Therapy work?
As with all our health services, we initially take the time to get to know you. We know every human is unique and has different needs, which is why we empower you to set functional goals that are unique to you. We check in regularly along the way to make sure you are being supported in the best possible way and adjust your goals where needed to suit your wants. We can provide recommendations and training where needed, supporting other people in your world to better support you.
When you have reached your therapy goals, we ensure you have access to appropriate supports and wish you all the best as we trust you will be better able to stand in your arena.

What is Psychological Assessment?
Psychological assessments are facilitated by a qualified and registered psychologist with the specific aim of formally assessing a specific domain of function. Common assessment domains include intelligence (IQ), cognitive functioning, memory, learning, autism spectrum, psychopathology and personality.
Arena Health Solutions are able to administer some psychological assessments. We will be adding to our assessment library in 2021, so contact us if you have a specific need and we will do our best to accommodate your needs or refer you to an alternative credible provider.

Employment Related Assessment and Counselling
Support Category: Capacity Building - Finding and Keeping a Job
What is Employment Related Assessment and Counselling?
At Arena, we understand that a person's disability can impact their ability to find and keep a job, and that the right job requires a balance of interests, preferences and adapting to health needs. We love supporting people to identify and reach their career goals!
Also called career counselling, this service supports you to identify the right career path and move towards getting the right job for you. This service is particularly suited to people who have a disability and those who are unclear about their career direction, whether they are just starting out on their career path or if they have been working in the same industry for decades.
How does it work?
With all our health services, we initially take the time to get to know you. We know every human is unique and we all have different strengths to offer an employer! That is why we also spend time exploring your strengths and values. Where our customers are really not clear on their path, we follow this with standardised psychometric assessments which are designed to uncover your occupational interests and preferences. We then combine all this information to consider the suitability of the different outcomes, using online tools to explore the pathway and job market for each option.
Once we are clear on a direction (or two) we can further support you to develop a resume and cover letter that emphasises your strengths and suitability for your chosen career path. If - like most humans - you experience some level of anxiety in interviews, we can take you through tried and tested interview strategies that will help you bring your best self to the table and stand in your arena!
When you have a job, we can provide ongoing counselling support to help you navigate any challenges, manage stress and anxiety, and develop and maintain healthy workplace relationships. We can also work with your employer to develop their skills and capacity to better support your specific needs in the workplace.

The magic of photography
Our founder, Belinda, is an enthusiast photographer and is passionate about exploring the world through photography. Belinda sees photography as a great mindfulness space, where she can be fully in the moment, noticing the intricate details of a tiny insect, or the details in a beautiful landscape view, or anything in between. It is also great incidental physical activity as you explore.
Exploring the word through photography is infinite. You can take 500 photos of the same object (yes, Belinda does this often...ask her about her plant George Junior) and each one will be unique: A slightly different angle; different lighting; changing the depth of field; adding an interesting filter; the options are endless. Each capture represents a different version of the moment and allows you to express your creativity in a way that resonates with you. This is the beauty of photography: mindfulness, physical activity, and connectedness with nature all intertwine to allow you to channel your creativity.
Here are some of Belinda's photographs. Please remember, this is her hobby and she is not a professional photographer, so enjoy the images for what they are: an expression of her creativity and noticing of the world.
